  • Do you have a private water pumping station on your property?

There may be good news coming if you have a private pumping station on your property.

Currently, homeowners have to spend hundreds of pounds every year for electricity running costs, maintenance and repairs to look after these private pumping stations. They may even have been flooded if it’s broken down in the past.

From October 2016, many of these private pumping stations will transfer over to Anglian Water and become their responsibility. They will take over all of the maintenance and the running costs too, saving customers hassle, worry and money.

To help customers identify and report the pumping stations easily, Anglian Water have launched a specialist website: www.spotapumpingstation.co.uk.

  • New Buckenham Art Exhibition Opens 25 March 2016

I think it would be fair to say that the New Buckenham Exhibition over the twenty years has built up quite a reputation for being a quality show. It has always been held over the Easter Weekend and this year is no exception. The Opening Night is Friday 25th March starting at 7.30 p.m. and finishing at 10 p.m. admission is £3.00 and this includes your glass of wine and nibbles.  It is always a special night where lots of people gather as soon as the doors are open to find their very special picture. Many are sold on this evening and often to people who have bought a picture at the exhibition before. However if you prefer a more calm leisurely viewing then the Saturday, Sunday, or Monday are the days to go and enjoy this cultural event. The exhibition is open on Saturday 26th Sunday 27th and Monday 28th March from 11.a.m to 4.30 p.m. Admission is £1.00

The exhibition varies from year to year as new artists exhibit. However there are some artists that have been exhibiting with us since it opened twenty years ago. The quality is always good and it seems to get better each year. There is an interesting mix of styles and mediums. Water colours and oils are probably the most popularand then you find some incredible drawings, stitch work and always an individual view point in photography. I think it is fair to say there is something for everyone. Remember the dates and bring your family and friends and maybe you find a painting to buy.

  • Volunteer drivers needed in your area

The non-emergency patient transport service in Norfolk is a partnership between ERS Medical and Voluntary Norfolk, providing transport for patients living in Norfolk to hospitals throughout East Anglia and beyond. Our volunteer drivers provide an essential service, transporting up to one hundred patients to their destination each day.

Paul Minchin (photo left), our Volunteer Driver’s Representative for the Breckland area has been volunteering with the service for many years and says “I have always enjoyed meeting people and talking to them and I also enjoying driving – this role is absolutely ideal. In my role as a rep, I want to ensure that drivers are comfortable in their volunteering and will help any driver with any problem.”

We would love to hear from caring, calm and reliable individuals with their own car. We are always keen to hear from volunteers happy to go above and beyond the usual, by taking on early morning appointments for patients needing dialysis, and appointments in London. All expenses are reimbursed, and training and support is provided. Please call Jules on 01603 883860 or email [email protected] for more information.
