The Big Community Switch is a collective energy switching scheme in which a large group of local authorities throughout Great Britain come together. More than 50 Councils are participating in the Big Community Switch scheme. Never before have so many Councils joined forces to collectively offer their residents the opportunity to group together and pay less for their energy.  Energy suppliers are invited to participate in a ‘reverse energy auction’ to get the lowest bid possible. The winning supplier(s) with the cheapest tariff in the auction gets to offer this to the people who have registered in order for them to have the opportunity sign up a new energy contract.
